the view from here

how is it that winter comes upon us

so quickly

with no warning-

no slow progression

to ease me into

it’s cold

long

and grey

days

the sun is shining brighter today

the air feels more warm and inviting than ever

the intensified curves and peak of the mountain

make it look close enough to touch

the sound is a deep cerulean blue,

sparkling and shimmering as it reflects the sun

which as it begins to set

is giving the sky a purple and orange hue

this all seems like some cruel punishment

at a time like this…

the sun should not be visible through the thick grey cloud

that engulfs the expanse of the sky

the mountain should be neither resplendent nor beautiful

that same dismal overcast should imepede my view

the air should feel cold and stiff

the sound should look dark and murky,

casting the color of that lifeless sky

upon it’s waters from the hidden sun

which makes the hasty

evening lonley and dreary descent

that reflects

my own

weathered

heart

music that you must hear, that i’m hearing a lot of this week…

This week i’ll make it real easy for you:

1. pretty much anything from the weepies album ’say i am to you”… put ‘i’ve gotta have you’ and ‘nobody knows me at all’ on repeat

2. hem’s album “rabbit songs”…  listen to ‘half acre’ while sitting on the beach watching stars… its pretty much heaven
